Base Resources
Energy Fuels recently acquired Base Resources Limited, as a part of its diversification into rare earth elements. Base Resources is an Australian-based, Africa-focused heavy mineral sands (HMS) company whose projects produce titanium and zirconium minerals, like ilmenite, rutile, and zircon, along with two valuable rare earth minerals called “monazite” and “xenotime.” These rare earth minerals are expected to be produced at the HMS mines and shipped to Energy Fuels’ existing White Mesa Mill in Utah, where the rare earths (along with the contained uranium) will be chemically extracted, processed and separated into high purity rare earth oxides.
In addition to securing a world-class source of raw materials for the company’s rare earth pipeline, Energy Fuels is also pleased to welcome the highly experienced and successful management team from Base Resources, who will oversee Energy Fuels HMS operations in the Southern Hemisphere.
