As a Mill Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery and equipment used in the processing of raw materials into finished products within the mill facility. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure efficient and high-quality production output. You will play a vital role in the manufacturing process, contributing to the overall success of the operation. Energy Fuels is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn the incoming and out-going material process flow.
  • Safely and efficiently operate processing circuits.
  • Operate and monitor processing systems in the production process, such as pumps, agitated tanks, overhead cranes, augers/conveyors, flow systems and grinding equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Operate various types of machinery and equipment, such as crushers, grinders, sifters, and conveyors, to process raw materials according to production requirements.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure smooth and efficient processing of materials, making adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery to identify and address any issues or malfunctions promptly.
  • Handle and transport raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods within the mill facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and inventory management of materials to prevent loss, damage, or contamination.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures for the safe handling and storage of materials, including hazardous substances.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the processing stages, conducting visual inspections and performing quality checks to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Record and report any deviations from quality requirements and take corrective actions to address issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance personnel to implement process improvements and optimize product quality and consistency.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety training programs and actively contribute to maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to management and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including equipment operation, material usage, downtime, and production output.
  • Complete production reports, logs, and other documentation as required by company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve any issues that may arise.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • At least 3 months of processing experience.
  • Knows the circuit ahead of him and the circuit behind him. Gets training on other circuits as progression is made. Can operate a circuit upstream and downstream from any circuit they’re running.
  • Passed off on at least 3 circuits (or the determined equivalent of alternate feed processing)
  • Approved “Class C” equipment Operator
  • Basic understanding of entire mill process
  • Analytical pass offs (solution U3O8)
  • Tailings area
  • When needed to act as the shifter for that crew and be responsible for all that his crew has and will do for that shift without supervision.
  • Willing and able to work rotation shift that include days, nights and weekends, holidays, and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime in a 24/7/365 operation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machinery operation or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

  • Lift up to 25-50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Climb ladders, stairways frequently.
  • Work in inclement weather.
  • Capable of working and being on their feet for long shifts (12 hours).
