REPORTS TO: Plant Supervisor
EXEMPT / NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

An operator is responsible for performing duties in assigned work areas. This position assures optimum equipment performance by following operating instructions and working with other crew members. Operators monitor, control, and troubleshoot in-situ recovery in the Central Processing Plant process systems and uranium wellfields to ensure the systems are functioning within established limits. Operators perform duties in a safe, productive, and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with safety, health, environmental, and radiological policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confer with operator on opposite shift to see what has happened in the last 12 hours.
  • Technical knowledge in the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in process performance analysis and improvements within areas of responsibility.
  • Perform regular Plant walk throughs.
  • Do regular wellfield drive and walk throughs.
  • Maintain technical databases and log sheets as requested.
  • Provide on-the-job training to other operators.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct plant process systems on computer.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct wellfield systems.
  • Take samples and perform analytical tests with appropriate documentation.
  • Perform equipment checks and document results.
  • Perform emergency rescue activities and attend required safety and environmental training.
  • Monitor for radioactive material contamination and ensure personnel, the workplace and equipment are decontaminated as needed.
  • Work closely with radiation safety staff to maintain exposure to radiation as low as is reasonably achievable.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Conduct monitor well sampling.
  • Perform MIT well testing.
  • Assist in other plant and wellfield areas and assignments, as directed.
  • Assists with any task required by management with approval from direct supervisor.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and its related programs.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to learn and be trained on new computer software programs.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a team player at all times.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and stay task oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A solid understanding and application of basic math skills.
  • Operator experience with control room and plant operations preferred.
  • Basic plumbing experience preferred.
  • At least one year of chemical operations experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds.
  • Possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, occupational health screening, and background check, which are paid for by the company.

JOB DETAILS:

This position reports to the Nichols Ranch ISR Mine Site, located approximately 75 miles northeast of Casper, Wyoming.

  • Operators work a rotating shift schedule days only(no night shift). The rotating schedules are established by management and currently are 12-hour days.
  • Operators are responsible for providing transportation to and from the Nichols Ranch Mine Site and Operators receive a remote travel allowance.
  • Workforce housing is provided for Operators during the off-shift hours of the scheduled workdays.
  • Overtime maybe required.
